Last month we posted an article called Guys & Porn . It was interesting to see some stats, and also note the reaction towards porn from a website with no Christian worldview. Today I ran across another article from a different website, again talking about the detrimental aspects of porn, again from a non-Christian viewpoint.
A few very appropriate points are made in the article (which is directed primarily towards men – hence the title, ‘The Art of Manliness‘):
1. Porn objectifies women
2. Porn supports a dodgy industry
3. Porn messes with your expectations for sex
4. Porn diminishes sexual pleasure
5. Porn saps your confidence
“The ubiquity of sexual images does not free eros but dilutes it. Other cultures know this. I am not advocating a return to the days of hiding female sexuality, but I am noting that the power and charge of sex are maintained when there is some sacredness to it, when it is not on tap all the time.”
